The Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department, West Valley Clean Water Program (WVCWP), and Community Against Substance Abuse (CASA) will be hosting a prescription drug disposal drop-off and recycling event on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Service Center, located at 41 Miles Avenue in Los Gatos. The event is open to residents and non-residents alike.
This free drop-off event is for unused, unwanted, expired medications as well as glass thermometers, household batteries, cell phones, and eyeglasses. If you have expired or unneeded medications, it is important to dispose of them properly so that they are not used by children or other people. If you bring in a glass thermometer, you can exchange it for a digital thermometer—one per person. Sharps, such as needles, and aerosols will not be accepted.
If you miss the October 26 event and have prescription medications that you need to dispose of, there are several places to do so in the San Jose area throughout the year. The Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health accepts prescription and over-the-counter medications at Sheriff departments and at Valley Health Center locations including Gilroy, San Martin, San Jose, and Cupertino.
