Los Angeles to act as 'Cougar Town's' season four 'destination' episode

Cougar Town is one of many shows that films here in Los Angeles but is set elsewhere. Though it normally films on the Culver Studios lot, the few occasions they do venture off to use real locations, they have to cheat angles and disguise locations to make it look like Florida. But for one very special moment at the end of season four, that will all change.

"We always like going on a trip at the end of the year—on all of my shows. This year we were finishing [production] before Christmas, and we were going to go to New Orleans, and then it gradually siphoned back from cast and crew to go to New Orleans and back for a week, away from their kids around Christmas, would be a nightmare. So we still wanted to do a destination show, and late in the game we came up with the idea that if they’re in Florida, they could want to go to Los Angeles!" Cougar Town executive producer Bill Lawrence revealed to LA TV Insider Examiner.

Lawrence also said that the final five episodes of the season would be dealing with an arc for Jules (Courteney Cox) and her father (guest star Ken Jenkins), though just exactly if and how he'd play into Hollywood, fans would just have to tune into TBS and see.

In previous seasons, the "destination" episodes of Cougar Town took the cast and characters to Hawaii for Hawaii and Malibu for Napa Valley.

Lawrence was eager to share this story point when asked about his most personally memorable story point for the season.

"For me, shooting LA as LA, blocking it on Hollywood Boulevard with our cast and crew was something I had never done, even though I’d been doing TV forever, so it stuck out, and it was really fun," he said.

Cougar Town may be a fourth season show-- and Lawrence may be a multiple-decade veteran of television-- but it's nice to see that it can still give him a chance to have a "first" in the industry!

Cougar Town airs on TBS on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m.
