It took double overtime for Los Angeles' (L.A.) hockey franchise, the Kings, to become double Stanley cup winners. They are 1 of only 13 teams to win the championship at least twice since the NHL took control of the Stanley Cup in 1926.
On a sunny Monday in June (16, 2014) beginning at noon (as promised) for almost seven glorious, energy-charged minutes on a route covering six blocks (5th & Figueroa to 11th & Figueroa) in downtown L.A., a crowd of enthusiastic well-wishers watched the celebratory parade for their beloved Kings.
Most of the parade consisted of double-decker buses decked out with signage reminding watching fans that "We are all Kings!"
What became more of a sightseeing bonanza during this time in downtown L.A. was the many, many different tee-shirts, jerseys and other signs that L.A. hockey fans love and royally support their Kings.
