A former Spanish teacher at a Los Angeles high school pled guilty on charges of having sex with two students on Monday.
Gabriela Cortez, 43, forwent a deal with the District Attorney’s Office and pled in open court to six felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.
Cortez, who taught at Roosevelt High School is free on bail and will return to court Jan. 7 for sentencing. Deputy District Attorney Hyunah Suh said the judge is awaiting a probation report before deciding on a sentence.
The investigation into Cortez’s accusations began when one of the students came forward Feb. 15, telling authorities he’d had sex with her.
Prosecutors said Cortez had sex with each of the boys at her home in Montebelleo in January 2009 and November 2010 when the boys were 16 and 17 years old.
