This Summer we all will be looking for a cool spot to bring the kids while school is out. This summer, try mayor Eric Garcetti's favorite program; The Los Angeles Summer of Learning Program. This is a fun and exciting activity for school age kids to learn over the summer months so they are more prepared for the upcoming school year. Although these classes take place during the summer months, they are the kind of subjects that kids only wish they could take during the school year. Classes like cooking, engineering, fashion design and poetry are offered and every student will find a class to spark their interest and aptitude. Learning is fun and when the classes offered are all about the joy of learning, it's not hard to understand why these programs are so popular.
Over the summer months, kids who are not fortunate enough to be in expensive programs are often left home with a remote control over the summer. They rarely are able to even participate in their local YMCA programs because their parents aren't available to drive and supervise them due to their work schedule. This program is offered to students who otherwise would have nothing to do. For those students, this program is more important than you can know.

Mayor Garcetti thanks local business leaders for their commitment to the program and providing jobs for teens while also giving students a valuable program to expand their minds over the summer months. Summer jobs for teens and a summer program for younger kids in need is a WIN WIN deal.
