Parts of Los Angeles International Airport were evacuated on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 after there were reports of shots being fired in the area of Terminal 3.
NBC News is reporting that a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employee was wounded when rounds of gunfire went off in the area of Terminal 3.
LAX's official Twitter account simply stated that an "incident" was underway that started at 12:30 p.m. ET. No further information was given.
A video provided by CNN shows emergency personnel on the scene.
There are several airlines that fly out of Terminal 3 at LAX, including Virgin American and Virgin Australia.
CNN reports that there was "panic" in the area of the shooting and people rushed down escalators to get away from the gunfire they heard.
Robert Perez, a passenger waiting to board Virgin Airlines, told KCAL that he was "taking a nap in the terminal" when people started to panic over the sounds of gunfire.
"I heard a popping sound, and everybody was diving for cover. The TSA said there was a shooting in the terminal and evacuate the building."
Shortly after the shooting started, passengers were evacuated and told to board a bus that would take them to a different terminal.
There is no word at this time if a shooter has been apprehended.
