Los Angeles Hollywood sign body parts: Another California killer like Kemper?

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Bronson Canyon Park has become the scene of gruesome body part discoveries as late as Wed., Jan. 18, 2012, and which are reminiscent of an earlier California killer named Edmund Emil Kemper III.

Los Angeles law enforcement is attempting to identify the man to whom the recently found parts belonged, with ABC News reporting they estimate the victim was between 40 and 60 years of age.

Fox News reported that a head was found first on Tuesday, with two feet and two hands both recovered on Wednesday.

A dog made the initial discovery when he tugged at a bag on the ground that was protruding from some bushes, according to officer Bruce Borihanh.

"It shakes the bag, and out pops the head."

The victims hands and feet were found the next day, however, by law enforcement searching the area below the famous Hollywood Sign. And as in the Edmund Emil Kemper serial crimes case in the '70s in California, police do not believe the crime occurred at the park where the remains are being found.

ABC News reported that LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera insinuated that the killer is attempting to hide the parts rather than have them found, as well.

"It looks like the head was placed in that location."

But the California law enforcement agency doesn't think this is a serial case, according to LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith, where multiple victims--all female--were murdered and often decapitated. Those victims' remains were scattered about too.

The first such Kemper victim, Mary Ann Pesce, went missing in May of 1972. Her head was found in a mountainous region of California in August of that same year. Kemper would go on to kill more co-ed girl hitchhikers, as well as his own mother and her best friend before he eventually turned himself in to authorities. He remains in a California prison at present.

Hopefully, Cmdr. Smith is correct and the Bronson Canyon Park hiking trails have not now become the dumping ground for yet another California serial killer on the level of Edmund Kemper.
