The Los Angeles Black Book Expo (LABBX) is holding its second Literary Greats Past and Present on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. A Rainbow of Literacy features artistic luminaries Keg Johnson, Cornelius Jones, Jr., Jennifer Jones, Tuesday Conner, Lynne Conner, Kate Purnell, Denise Lyles-Cook (The ORACLE), Mel Hampton, and Leopoldo Mandeville. The ORACLE, who will be channeling Nina Simone says, "You will love the show. I know my fellow thespians, singers and dancers are having as much fun as I discovering their Literary Great Past and Present. I do hope everyone takes advantage of this awesome opportunity to learn something new about someone you only heard about in school or on the radio."
The Woman's Club of Hollywood is hosting this spectacular grouping of Los Angeles talent, the reception is being catered by Elderberries Green Cafe, and the evening will also include musical entertainment Mr. Beau Jingles, and Samona & Samona Cooke (Sam Cooke's daughter and grand-daughter). Comedian Stevie Mack II, and actor Drevon Cooks are also among the evening's talent.
Tickets are $25.00, and FREE for children under 12. All proceeds are tax-deductible, and will help with the cost of conducting the Los Angeles Black Book Expo on August 11, 2012. LABBX strives year after year to bring together blossoming authors and avid readers at their annual Expo, and other literary events in the Southern California area.
