Los Angeles area winds return, dryness to continue

100 mph. plus winds at 30,000 feet over Los Angeles.

Once again, strong northeast Santa Ana winds are affecting much of Southern California, and there may be more of the same to come. The combination of strong surface pressure differences and upper air supporting winds of 70 mph. or more will persist for another 36 to 48 hours before easing off late Saturday.

Of particular interest is the wind profile at 30,000 feet above Los Angeles. Sustained northeast winds in the 110 to 145 mph. range were occurring Friday morning.

Long-range models suggest continued dry weather through Christmas day, with the possibility of another wind event Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
