Lorraine Bracco and Penny Marshall are joining the Fox TV family. These iconic thespians who starred "Laverne & Shirley" and "The Sopranos" respectively, will be part of a seasoned cast in "Mulaney." The two celebrities will play lesbians in a committed relationship on the new sitcom.
According to Fox News via TV Guide on Feb. 1, this pair of accomplished actors join John Mulaney of "SNL" writing fame on his autobiographical project named after the funny man who both scribes and stars in the small screen event that looks on a score of aspects that come directly from John's life.
That said, Lorraine Bracco and Penny Marshall have signed up to play friends of Mulaney's neighbor, played by Elliot Gould.
Getting these roles tied down wasn't easy because the episodic comedy had some trouble finding a network to embrace the project, which was developed by NBC. The Peacock network ultimately did not pick up the show which was executive produced by "SNL" head honcho Lorne Michaels, reports Celebuzz.
Enter Fox TV, the network who happily filed a series order for this half-hour offering that also includes Martin Short in its star-studded cast. Short will play Mulaney's boss.
And so, all is well as Lorraine Bracco and Penny Marshall become a committed lesbian couple in the upcoming sicome called "Mulaney." Stay tuned to Fox for this one.
