This October Loretta Lynn will be having her usual Songwriters Festival at her ranch. It is usually around the second week of autumn and this year is no different; October 2-4 the festival will be held. Loretta's ranch is located in Hurricane Mills, not too far from Nashville -- in fact it's 65 miles west. The festival includes live music performances, classes, contests, open sing rings as well as ranch amenities, accommodations, and more. The festival is part festival, music conference, business networking, and gathering of old friends. Sounds like a great event, huh?
The ranch has multiple outdoor stages so everyone can share their songs. The ranch is located on hundreds of acres that include rolling hills, a pasture, and a winding creek. All forms of songwriting are welcome and Writers are encouraged to come as they are into a nice, laid back country atmosphere. Why not? You've got a beautiful place to perform!
All those who come have the chance to share their original lyrics, songs, or music. There will be the classes that focus on the craft of songwriting, as well. Pro Instructors will share their secrets and personal experiences about the success in the music business and what you can do to be successful.
There will be an Open Sing Ring where Song Wranglers can join in or start up as well. Also, a Co-writers Corner for writing on the spot and sharing your new songs will be set up. And, if you can't sleep after all of the stages close, you can join the after-hour Camp Fire Sing Ring that will be held down by the creek.
And, there's a songwriting & lyric challenge with $25,000 plus in prizes! The challenges are designed to highlight new/undiscovered talent and great commercial music for the market. Included in the panel of judges is Sure Fire Music -- one of Nashville's oldest publishers who have many of Loretta's songs in their catalog. Some winning entries will also receive publishing and song pitching agreements as well as cash prizes, professional pitch demos, and more.
As for accommodations, the ranch has a full service RV park, cabin and campsites, a swimming pool, playgrounds, canoeing, paddle boats, nature trails, a mini-theater, and more. During the festival there will be tours of Lynn's plantation home, the recording studio, Loretta's Butcher Holler Home Place, the Coal Miners' Daughter Museum, the Old Grist Mill Water Wheel Houses, a Fan Museum, Western Town, and Jessie James' Cabin.
The ranch is pet friendly, open to the public, and there is free parking so don't waste your time in signing up! Keep in mind, you don't have to attend every part of the festival. If you want to attend this wonderful three day event, you can start signing up now by clicking here.
