Lorde is hot off of a coveted Grammy performance spot and two Grammy Award wins, and now she is following in the footsteps of fellow Grammy winners Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The duo headlined the 2013 Preakness. Like the duo, the teenager saw immense success in 2013, garnering praise and fans all around the world for her number one album Pure Heroine.
"Preakness InfieldFest enters its sixth year, now positioned as the region’s biggest, best and most unique party with first-class music and top-notch racing throughout the day,” said Maryland Jockey Club president Tom Chuckas. “Lorde’s popularity is rising at a staggering rate from radio spins to social media to online plays and views. Her appeal cuts across multiple fan demographics and reflects the cutting edge talent fans have come to expect at InfieldFest. She is an extraordinarily talented artist and we look forward to welcoming her to Preakness InfieldFest."
This isn't Lorde's only stop in the DMV, she will also be playing Echostage in March. While that performance is sold out, tickets are currently on sale for InfieldFest. 2014 Preakness InfieldFest will be held on May 17 at Pimlico Race Course.
Tickets start at $50 until February 7, after they will start at $60 through April, then $70 in May. www.preakness.com
