Lorde and Imagine Dragons confirmed for 2014 MMVA lineup

Lorde and Imagine Dragons are the first artists announced as performers at the 2014 Much Music Video Awards. The New Zealand pop sensation and Las Vegas alt-rockers will both be making their MMVA debut appearances at the event being held next month.

According to a news release posted May 6 at MuchMusic.com, the pair of Grammy winning performers will make their first ever appearances at Canada's premiere video awards event, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Both acts are leading contenders heading into the upcoming Billboard Music Awards, holding 12 nominations each.

MuchMusic also revealed this year's Your Fave nominees, including the Your Fave Video of the Year, Your Fave International Artist/Group, and Your Fave Artist/Group. Toronto superstar rapper Drake and Vancouver pop rockers Hedley are among the nominees with Lorde and Imagine Dragons also ranking among the international artist nominees. Fans can cast their votes and chose a wildcard nominee at MMVA.MuchMusic.com. Voting closes on May 19.

The MMVAs will take place on Sunday June 15 from Toronto's MuchMusic headquarters. Fans can watch the simulcast beginning at 9:00 p.m ET/6:00 p.m. PT on Much, CTV and CTV GO and can also check out a star-packed Red Carpet special airing prior to the event at 8 p.m. ET on Much. More performers, presenters and nominees will be announced in the coming weeks.

The MuchMusic Video Awards are annual awards presented by the Canadian music video channel MuchMusic to honour the year's best music videos. Past MMVA performers and presenters include: Avril Lavigne, The Black Eyed Peas, The Black Keys, Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, Carly Rae Jepsen, Colin Farrell, Down With Webster, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, LMFAO, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Snoop Dogg, and many more.

Did you know Both Lorde and Imagine Dragons are Grammy winners with Lorde winning for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance ( "Royals") and Imagine Dragons winning for Best Rock Performance ("Radioactive").
