A three-year old was injured when a galloping horse appeared “from nowhere” and careened into her. The freak accident occurred in New Zealand, near Linkwater between Havelock and Picton, in a quiet and heavily populated residential neighborhood.
Medics were immediately called. They rushed to the scene and initially ministered and stabilized the young girl. The child was then airlifted by helicopter to Wairau Hospital for treatment of injuries to her face and head.
A spokesperson for the hospital has confirmed that the youngster was stabilized, treated and has already been discharged.
Not much detail is known about the accident. The young girl was with her family in a yard when the horse came running through the middle of the people, striking the little girl.
Nelson Marlborough Rescue helicopter duty pilot, Jared Colbourne, told Newstalk only that the incident took place at a residential property and that the child was there with her family.
