This is Teva Durham's third book in the Loop-d-loop series. Loop-d-loop Lace has more than 30 novel lace designs for knitters. Her designs "focus on quicker knits with an urban edge and artisan look." Lace is dainty but doesn't always have to be delicate.
Teva has refered to Barbara G. Walker's "Stitch Treasuries" in her quest of stitch designs, using her inspiration in several of her patterns for the book. You will get a little taste of the history of lace. Just enough to whet the appetite for what's to come. She has also included casting on, shaping, chart reading and finishing.
The color orange has always drawn me in like a moth to a flame. Celtic braid eyelet wrap pattern knit in Orange Berry yarn by Louet can also be arranged to form a hoodlike collar. Teva has designed a Shetland Shawl dress that would look stunning in ecru linen or silk as a wedding dress for an informal wedding. With thin spaghetti straps, the skirt on a bias drape and with an added flounce and worked in linen, it is a show stopper. Art deco leaves cardigan is a classy jacket with bell sleeves, hook and eye closures offset down the left side of the garment. Then there is a pattern for a large sunflower satchel and also a thistle bodice worked from the top down to form a tank top... can you telI, I like lace. One more, the lace puff bloomers, are perfect for a college student. Teva did a nice job in the way they fit.
My tip in knitting lace is to use stitch markers and row counters. With the 30+ designs, you are sure to find yourself having the task of which one to knit first. Be careful, lacework is addicting. Love the way Teva writes. You will be left satiated but looking forward to her next book in the Loop-d-Loop series. All this in a hardcovered book with lots of large colored photographs.
