Looking to unwind in Charlotte after work? Here's where to go. . .

Sometimes, it’s hard to wait until after dark to get down- down around Charlotte that is. Especially after a long day of computer malfunctions, tedious assignments, and customers that make anyone want to . . . smile with joy, yeah that’s it. And service industry folks understand a rough day. That’s why bars are offering drink specials for the after work crowd. Here’s a list of a few of the best places to get a little after work therapy.

Alive After Five -The yearly after work party returns this week at the Wachovia Plaza, with the after party at the Epicentre. The event runs every Thursday at five. And alongside listening to live music, there’s a new wine bar, too. Upcoming musical acts include:

April 8th –Liquid Pleasure
April 15th -80-Z-Enuff
April 22nd – Hot Sauce
April 29th – The Voltage Brothers (Alive after Five flyer)

Mez and Wind-Down Wednesdays- Every Wednesday, Mez will be playing live music from 5-8pm, accompanied by something everyone can tune into- half price wine and martinis. Other weekday specials are as follows:

Monday Half price select wines & $2 Miller Lite
Tuesday $3 Sauza & half price Sangria
Thursday $3 Drafts (Mez Website)

Ballantyne Village - While Mix at Six doesn’t kick off until May 5th, it's an event any nightlifer or work crazed person should know about. Hosted at Ballantyne Village, Mix at Six is a live music performance similar to Alive after Five. In the past, the event has hosted musical acts like Simplified and Coconut Groove.

No worries though, because nightlifers don’t have to wait until May 5th for a Ballantyne boogie. On April 10th and 24th, Ballantyne Village will host a live music event at the Village Bistro. On both days, the music will be performed by Leslie Thompson & the Jazz Guys. The event starts at 9:30pm.

Therapy Café- The name speaks for itself. From the calming shades of blue, to the mellow lighting, Therapy offers a safe haven for the after work crowd. There’s even a patio encircling the café, which allows guests to enjoy the madness of the city without having to partake in it- how therapeutic! Drink specials include

mon: 1/2 price glasses & bottles of wine
tues: $2 domestics & $3 microbrews
wed: award winning 1/2 price martini night
thurs: $5 house flavored margarita martinis
fri: select 1/2 price glasses & bottles of wine (Therapy website)

So make sure to celebrate hump-day right. . .  by unwinding at the bar!
