What is indie music?

Hank’s Café, a nook of a bar tucked away on lower Nuuanu, is a place to meet good friends, have great conversation, and discover a variety of local songwriters from the Oahu Songwriters Group.

What Hank’s may lack in size and frills, it makes up for in camaraderie. Saturday nights are often a mixed cocktail of local musicians, merry barflies and curious passers-by, enjoying their brimming brews while tapping toes to tunes performed live by local songwriters.

Every Saturday night, from 9:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. (or thereabouts), Hank’s hosts the Oahu Songwriters Group live showcase. Each hour, two different musicians/bands share the stage, performing about four songs per set, passing the spotlight back and forth to one another. This “in the round” approach makes for a broad range of musical styles and creativity.

This is a great opportunity for musicians and music lovers alike to be introduced to the independent music scene in Honolulu. Doors open at 6:00 pm, full bar, limited dinner menu, no cover, no dress code, 21+ only.
