Looking for imports from South America?

See also

Have you been working to arrange a business trip to South America from Chicago? Perhaps you're a buyer for a chain of boutiques that specializes in imports from Brazil or Argentina, in addition to domestic designers. Are your clients looking for designers that will preview their house's fashion wear in Chicago, with plans to expand east and west in the U.S.? Take a good look at the model in the photo. With the short jacket she's wearing, a variation on the trench coat in dark olive, you can step right into an evening dinner meeting, prepared to make a deal to purchase designs that come close to competing with Calvin Cline, Ralph Lauren or definitely Chico's.

Has business been slow for you lately, or have you considered the fact that even the most popular and chic fashions of your favorite department store, like maybe Lord & Taylor, are showing signs that the economy is lagging a little? Perhaps your CEO has decided that she might lay off a buyer if business doesn't pick up this winter. Maybe your best friend, a part time buyer for the boutiques, is afraid it will be him and is thinking of investing in his own business just in case. Have you been told that your trip is the only one that your boutiques will allow unless some of your winter and tropics or upcoming spring designs start selling quickly?

Well, get ready for a burst of activity if the economy starts to improve. It's quite likely that fashion designs will be different enough to stimulate buying and that your stores' custom made dresses and separates will give you the attention that you will need with the changes with their colors and patterns. Keep an eye on Kohl's designs, which have a beautiful array of sweaters and coats, with cowl necks in soft and striking colors and coat brands that will entice the average customer into splurging unless perhaps, you do a little advertising.

So with the right pair of sandals like the model's in the photo, especially since they might be from Spain instead of the Chicagoland area, if you can feature them in your boutiques, you should be able to attract customers. Don't be surprised if people are more able to buy fashions with the housing prices that have dropped. This may just be the winter that your salary gets frozen, but it'll be better than a lay off. Sit tight and make the most of any business trip.
