According to the official website of “Longmire” the synopsis is right here. It is - “Based on the 'Walt Longmire Mystery' novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, returns for its second season with more murder, secrets and betrayals from Absaroka County, Wyoming. The new season finds reluctant hero Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) back in the saddle after coming to terms with the devastating loss of his wife and dedicated to serving his community.”

The episode “Election Day” opens on the eve of the election for Absaroka County Sheriff. A dinner party is thrown by the supporter's of Walt Longmire at the home of Lizzie Ambrose (Katherine LaNasa). She has been waiting for Walt almost two years now. After the party he lets her kiss him & it is very, very passionate. Walt is still grieving the murder of his wife, but throws caution to the wind & stays the night at Lizzie's place.

Cady Longmire went out to the Cheyenne reservation to pick up those who don't have cars to vote in town. As she helps elders out of her car someone in a truck is watching her. Branch Connally has already voted & tribal leader Jacob Nighthorse (A Martinez) bought him a campaign bus. He had spent a lot of money on Branch's campaign as the Nighthorse casino is being built. Jacob has money & he believes money is power even in Absaroka County.

The Ferg calls Vic out to a car accident that looks like a double hit & run. Vic runs down to a culvert & Cady is lying there bloody. Vic tells Ferg to call an ambulance. Cady had a flat tire & as she was fixing it a car rammed into her station wagon. It knocked her back with a severe head trauma. She ends up in critical condition & has to have surgery. Walt flashes back to when he held Cady in his hands as a baby girl.

The Ferg admits that he had fallen in love with Cady & he is angry. He & Vic go to Montana to track down the person who sold a car that was at the accident. Vic has to calm Ferg down because he wants revenge. Walt has won the election, but that is less important now. Cady is laying in a hospital bed with tubes connected to her as she fights for her life.

Who bought the car that hit Cady? Was she hit by two cars? Who was watching her on that road? Was it a hit & run by the town drunk? Did this happen because of the election? Why does Walt Longmire want to seek a Native American 'Vision Quest'?
