As the season progresses, so to does the importance of the games. Competition has been stiff recently as the Cedar Hill Longhorns find themselves in the midst of a 3 game losing streak. Recently the Horns fell to non district foe Red Oak 12-2 as the bats were nearly invisible. District opponent Irving Tigers knocked off Cedar Hill by a score of 12-5 and South Grand Prairie won a high scoring contest 13-8. Defense has been the key for Coach Fatheree and the Longhorns as they've held opponents to an average of three runs in victories while allowing 12 runs per game during this recent skid.

Rivalries tend to bring out the best in competitors, and fans of the Cedar Hill Longhorns and Duncanville Panthers hope thats the case tonight. The neighboring rivals go head to head tonight at Andrew Porter Field in Cedar Hill in a contest with bragging rights and pride on the line. Duncanville has struggled thus far with a record of 6-15 (1-8) but would definitely love to exact some revenge against the Horns who defeated them just two weeks ago. Duncanville will have to keep up with a potent Longhorn lineup led by sensational sophomore Caleb Hamrick and steady senior John Faulkner. The duo account for a dominant infield both batting over .450 and combining for 39 rbi’s. Needless to say with both squads in the midst of a slump stakes are extremely high. Will the dominant duo of Hamrick and Faulkner pull the Horns out of their slump? We’ll know tomorrow.
