A Long Island teenager died Sunday evening after he fell off a bluff and was impaled by a tree limb in Wading River, the Associated Press reported.

Riverhead Town Police say Matthew Grimaldi, 18, was attending a party along Hulse Landing Beach in Wading River when climbed the bluff with a group of friends around 7 p.m. Sunday evening.

On the way down, Grimaldi allegedly lost his footing and landed on a downed tree. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Peconic Bay Medical Center.

According to his Facebook page, Grimaldi was set to graduate from Ward Melville High School next month.
