William Artuso is a Long Island student that recently launched a line of soaps to help him work his way through graduate school. In an exclusive interview with the Long Island Spa Treatments Examiner, the creator of Artuso Soaps & Co. confided that one of the scents in the brand was named after a Lady Gaga lyric.
Artuso Soaps & Co is based out of Hicksville, where the 23-year-old entrepreneur manufactures his deluxe line of soap. William jumped into the business because he is “a soap fanatic.”
I shop at Lush, Bath & Body Works, etc. I have very sensitive skin though, so I tried making my own soaps, and just enjoyed the process.
Three different types of soaps are available at Artuso Soaps & Co., but according to the owner, the “Signature Brands are the ones we will never alter or pull from inventory.”
The young soap manufacturer created the line with love and altruism and to also address certain skin conditions.
Healing Brands are made with certain materials and oils that historically have been said to aide certain ailments, ranging from stress to acne and eczema. Our Tribute Brands are designed to raise awareness of different diseases that plague our world today. Our first Tribute is "Angel Wine" in memory of my grandmother, who loved her white wine. She suffered with Alzheimer's, so 40 cents per bar sold will go towards Alzheimer's research.
Artuso designed the brand of luxurious soap products using natural ingredients such as lemongrass, sage, soapwort, Shea butter, honey and glycerin. Each moisturizing bar produces a rich lather that leaves behind a fresh clean feel. The soaps would make an ideal gift for the upcoming holidays, as they are not gender specific. William aimed for a unisex audience.
I like the idea of men experimenting with homemade soaps, and vice versa. I tried to stick to fragrances that I thought would suit both genders and make good gifts as well.
Artuso named Rivington Rebel after a lyric in “Heavy Metal Lover,” a song off of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” album. The street in NYC with the “cool music scene” is where Mother Monster began her music career and one in which William and friends used to “hang out.”
The affordable soaps are just the beginning for Artuso. If Artuso Soaps & Co. is successful; William hopes that he’ll be able to expand the business venture into the accessory world of healing.
I'm hoping to make different options available in the future if the business does well. I added the "& Co." because I'm hoping to get into selling other types of 'healing' things that excite the senses and the spirit. So far, I'm selling white sage in the accessories, which can be burned as incense and has the same healing properties as the soap. I hope to build on that page in the future and make a bigger inventory there.
To celebrate the launch of his new endeavor, visitors to artusosoaps.com can receive one free Signature Bar, which is included with every purchase.
