Long Island home invasion

For most of us, home is a place where we feel secure and safe, a place where nothing scary or bad seems like it could ever happen.

Sadly, sometimes, we are not even safe in our own home, as one recent local event illustrates.

Early on Thursday morning, a Central Islip man was shot and wounded during a home invasion robbery, when three masked men broke into the home.

Three other residents were in the home at the time. One of the other residents was struck with gun, and required hospitalization for a face injury, though the other two residents were not injured. The three residents were still on the loose at press time.

Imagine if this was your home, and your family who were under attack by three strangers. No matter how safe we think we are, we always need to be on alert in this day and age.

How do you keep your family, and home safe from intruders?
