November is here and the celebration of the harvest has begun. Thanksgiving season is a time of celebration and thanks, and some serious eating! Holiday tables this and every year are filled with a cornucopia of favorite vegetables of the season, including squash, sweet potatoes, cranberries, corn, pumpkins and a whole host of others. Farmer’s markets across Long Island are great places to get fresh, homegrown vegetables and other great holiday foodstuffs for the Thanksgiving table.

Open Saturdays from 9-1 and features over 40 vendors selling all sorts of locally grown fresh produce, bread, shellfish, cut flowers and much, much more.
Kennedy Plaza Farmer’s Market, 1 West Chester St., Long Beach
This farmer’s market is held twice weekly, on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. This festive outdoor atmosphere features vendors selling products from fresh pasta and sauces to dairy products, flowers and more. Cooking demonstrations, live music and tastings add to the fun of this one of a kind farmer’s market.
