Planning a special dinner for your sweetheart? Or perhaps showering them with chocolates and candies? Need a fun way to exercise and not feel guilty? Check out the I Heart 2 Run 5k, an inaugural event sponsored by a Long Beach Marathon team, on February 14, 2010. With an 8:00 am start, it even allows time for sleeping-in compared to many other races. Even if you don't have special Valentine's Day plans, perhaps you could make some with a special runner you meet race morning!

The race begins at the Belmont Pool in Long Beach and should be fun for everyone, especially anyone who is single. There is a special aspect of the race tailored to help them meet others. The "You Ran into My Heart" Cards are available at the beginning of the race and are a great way to meet new runners during the race. Fill out your name and tie the card to your wrist while running. If someone special catches your eye, feel free to write your name and number on their Heart Card! You'll already have one thing in common, the fact that you are both taking care of yourself and running.

Fun races can be a great way to meet people with similar interests, raise a money for a great cause, and get your morning exercise in. The top overall Male and Female will each receive a medal and randomly selected finishers will also receive a box of chocolates. Being a small race, there is no official timing, but there will be a race clock for the event. All pre-registered participants will receive an event t-shirt made of 100% cotton. Make sure to select your shirt size when you register. Proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  If you are unfamiliar with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, please visit their website at www.leukemia-lymphoma.
