As 2012 comes to a close and 2013 is shaping up for another amazing year for local talent in Long Beach this is the top 25 bands or performers who played in the city where the sewer meets the sea. The criteria for voting was any vote placed had to be for a band or artist who has not received radio airplay in regular rotation, not currently signed under the performance name to a major record label or performed in a venue with a capacity over 1,000. Which means that The Offspring, The Ataris, Exene Cervenka, Kyle Gass, Eagles of Death Metal, Voodoo Glow Skulls, JFA, Zeke, Cadillac Tramps and the likes will not be included for this article.
The voting was compiled from over 50 local musicians, club owners and employees with 190 different bands or artists nominated. These great bands or artists just missed the list this year; Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Death Hymn No. 9, Dissension, Flattbush, Franki Doll & The Broken Toys (#8 in 2011), Karl?, Los Mysteriosos, Lovingkindness (#22 in 2011), Metalachi (#2 in 2011), Pangea, Pebaluna, Rockford, Savannah Lynn, The Creepy Creeps, The LBians, The Midnight Screening (#19 in 2011), Thy Squid, Toys that Kill and Wingard Manor. With only 6 bands from 2011 making the cut in 2012 here is the top 25 bands or artists.
