Long Beach holds eighth annual LA Travel & Adventure Show (Photos)

A crowd of travel enthusiasts gathered at the Long Beach Convention Center for the eighth annual LA Travel & Adventure Show over the weekend, Jan. 12 and 13, looking to find great travel bargains, packages and new destinations to explore.

Japan was this year's travel destination at the convention center with their booth conveniently located at the entrance offering samples of Japanese green tea, travel offers and a chance for visiting guests to win prizes.

Bungee trampoline jumping was also a new and exciting activity for the entire family to experience at this year's show, along with a rock climbing wall, aerial zip-lining and the bubble-rollers water balls.

Celebrity guest speakers included Peter Greenberg, Pauline Frommer, Richard Wiese, Rick Steves, Chris Harrison, Patricia Schultz and Jean-Michel Cousteau—the son of the late Jacque Cousteau followed with a booksigning.

The show's Taste of Travel Culinary Stage from world renown chefs offered convention guests a live interaction of the taste, the sounds and the smells of the world all packed into one weekend event.

As well as the cultural activities and entertainment from around the world brought forth on The Global Beats stage with audience participation.

Over 100 travel exhibit booths from various countries around the world and parts of the U.S. offered expert advice for many adventure seeking tourists and travelers that enjoy exploring places that are off the beaten path.

These exhibitors are experts in their field on great destinations, from the best places to go and see, best time to visit certain countries and to the best places to eat as guests picked up booklets and leaflets, ask questions and played games of chance to win free trips and prizes.

It was a weekend packed full of adventure without having to leave the city, and even if some of us are unable to make time for a travel and adventure experience, the LA Travel & Adventure Show brought the adventure and experience to you.
