Lonestar National Finals Rodeo is highlight of the week ahead in Huntsville

The cold winter weather continues to invade Huntsville this week. Despite the cold, there are great events being held this week. Among these in a national finals rodeo, a symphony concert, and several arts events.

Lonestar National Finals Rodeo for 2013 season

The Lonestar National Finals Rodeo returns to Huntsville, Alabama, to complete their 2013 season. The rodeo, sponsored by the Madison County Sheriff's Department, will feature competitions for major cash prizes as well as family oriented entertainment and events. The rodeo will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 31, and Saturday, February 1, at the VBC Arena, with a pre-rodeo show for the children each night. For more information, visit the rodeo website.

Other events happening this week

Ars Nova will present "Carmen" from Friday, January 31, through Sunday, February 2, at the VBC Playhouse.

Huntsville Symphony Orchrestra will present "Soaring Melodies" on Saturday, February 1, at the VBC Concert Hall.

Uncle Flymo's New Vaudeville Revue will be on Friday, January 31, at the Flying Monkey Arts Center.

Normadic Tapestry's "Before the Groundhog Wakes" music and belly dance event will be on Saturday, February 1, at the Flying Monkey Arts Center.

So, despite the cold temperatures, there are events happening this week for everyone. Whether a person enjoys the wild west atmosphere of the rodeo, the classy music of the symphony, or a musical performance, they can get out of the cold and into a great event this week.
