Lonesome Rock Cattle Company sustainable beef and De Ponte wines are now available in the Carlton Firehouse. The historic firehouse has been completely renovated as an event space and tasting room in charming Carlton, Oregon.
The Lonesome Rock Ranch features natural pasture land that has never been fertilized or sprayed. The cattle are free to roam and graze on 80 acres of grass, clover and alfalfa. They are never given hormones or antibiotics. They are also given locally grown wheat and barley that has never been sprayed, as well as Pinot Noir "pumice," the leftovers after the grapes are pressed. The beef is aged and flash frozen. It's available at both the De Ponte Cellars winery outside of Dundee and at the Lonesome Rock Firehouse. Lonesome Rock Cattle Company
The Lonesome Rock Ranch also has a vineyard and the second vintage of the Lonesome Rock Ranch pinot noir is now available at the tasting room.
The tasting room and event space in the firehouse has clean modern wood and rock styling. Opening in fall, 2013, it functions as a second tasting room for De Ponte Cellars. It is also available as event space, featuring a commercial kitchen and function space for up to 150 people.
The tasting room features a triangular bar and fireplace, with a roll-up door that can open to the sidewalk on nice days. In the other bay of the firehouse is room for tables for functions, and there is a nice back patio. The firehouse doesn't have any vistas of vineyards like the De Ponte Cellars winery, but is convenient to the other tasting rooms and restaurants in Carlton.
