Loneliness and Stay at Home Moms

When you decided to be a stay at home mom you probably did not think that it would come with times that would leave you feeling lonely. There are probably times that you do not even know how you could be feeling lonely when you can’t stop thinking about how much you have to do. Being lonely while being a mom is nothing to be ashamed about. However, it is something you should not just push aside. The feelings of loneliness and isolation are contributing factors for depression making it important that you as a stay at home mom learn how to balance your life with not only all your mom duties, but your personal needs as well. After all there is some truth in the saying, “If momma is not happy then no one is happy.” When your feeling down and lonely then you will not be able to be all the mom you can be.

Remember a little “Me Time” can go a long way. You might think the last thing you need when you are feeling lonely is spending time to yourself, but you would be surprised how much better you will fill when you take just a little bit of time to yourself. When you do this make sure you are really using your “Me Time” to do the things you want. Whether it is a hobby that you love or just taking a nice bath. Everyone deserves a little time to just do what makes them happy.

Do not forget about friends. Whether it be using your “Me Time” to go out with your friends while some one else watches the kids or you setting up play groups so you can chat with other moms while the kids play having friends to talk to is important. Being a stay at home mom you spend so much time just talking with your kids you forget how nice it can be at times to just talk to another adult. If your one of those shy people that has a hard time getting to know other parents don’t fear, just remember that as a parent they already share a topic you can both talk about. There is also the Internet. You can email friends to stay in touch or use it to find other stay at home moms just like you. From chat rooms, blogs, to forums there are tons of stay at home moms out there in need of some one to talk to. Just remember if use the Internet to connect to others that you don’t go giving out personal info, like names of kids, address, and such, to those you don’t already know in real life.
