Recently, Chrissy Teigen hosted the London Fog Designer Collection event with designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka of Badgley Mischka, Chris Benz and Cynthia Rowley, at Root Studio in Chelsea. The new collection includes stylish umbrellas and outerwear from each designer. It’s functional, playful, sophisticated, and it incorporates great trends that will be popular in the Spring.
I had the opportunity to speak to each of the designers and here are highlights from what they shared. Mark Badgley and James Mischka mentioned that they were thrilled to partner up with London Fog and wanted to “bring glamour back to something functional like a raincoat.” They also stated that neutrals are going to be big this Spring, so the design they chose will be great for the season. Cynthia Rowley was happy to work with a heritage brand such as London Fog and “to influence [their tradition and function] with [her] designs…artistic prints.” In addition to this collaboration, she already has a cosmetics line with Birchbox, just launched an eyewear website, and will be launching a wetsuit line with J. Crew next month. Chris Benz was impressed that London Fog approached him to be part of this designer collaboration and he chose to use the floral print in his pieces after coming back from a trip to Paris, where he was inspired by a very detailed and beautiful floral wallpaper. He “likes that the casual look is coming back” this Spring as a trend.
The London Fog Designer Collection will range from $50 - $75 for umbrellas and up to $250-$400 for outerwear. The collection just launched online on Tuesday at www.londonfog.com and will be available later this month at stores including Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom.com and Hudson’s Bay. Such a great range of innovative designs for this Spring!
