For some, it may seem as if burlesque exploded into Dallas within the past 12-15 months. That is certainly true, but hardly a point worth mentioning if some of the "we-were-here-firsts" get overlooked. Not that burlesque is a race, or a competitive sport for that matter. But honoring the pioneers who were bold enough to do burlesque before the "scene" is important, and if you call yourself a burlesque fan in Dallas, then you must be familiar with one of the groups that started it all.
I'm talking of course about the Lollie Bombs. The Lolllie Bombs were among the first burlesque dancers to produce shows and to whet Dallas' appetite for pasties and tassels. Known for their irreverent humor and political satire, the Lollie Bombs is a smart group of creative women who know a thing or two about engaging the audience.
And lucky for you, they're performing this weekend at their home base, Pocket Sandwich Theater. Tickets are $20 and you can get them by calling 214-821-1860.
