There is often a misconception that hotels that accept pets can only be "flea-pits" -- literally. This may have been true twenty years ago, but times have changed. Pet-friendly accommodations now come in the form of four and five star hotels such as the Loews Hotel chain.
All of the Loews Hotels nationwide are very pet-friendly offering many perks for the pet and for their owner. Each pet receives gifts upon check-in including a pet tag, bowl and a special treat. Pet owners are given a detailed brochure with hotel pet service information including the Loews Loves Pets room service menu as well as local area pet services information. Other items available include pet beds, leashes and collars, treats, litter boxes and more.
There is a list of rules to abide by in order to receive this very pet-friendly service. Some of the rules include:
- Maximum of two pets per room
- $25 one-time cleaning fee
- Pets have to be leashed in all public spaces
- Pets should be supervised at all times. Pet-sitting services can be arranged through the concierge

Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando
There are five Loews hotels in Florida. Each has its own unique personality but all offer the same distinguished service.
The three properties in Orlando are all located within the grounds of Universal Orlando. Guests staying at any of the properties receive Universal Orlando benefits including Universal Express Ride Access allowing them to bypass the normal lines at most rides and attractions, complimentary on-site transportation, and on-site charging priveleges with the room key card.
- Loews Royal Pacific Resort - as its name suggests, has an exotic South Seas atmosphere. The resort features a lagoon-style swimming pool, The Mariner's Club children's activity center, and The Gymnasium - a 5,000-square-foot fitness center.
- Loews Portofino Bay Hotel - will make you feel like you are on the Italian Riviera. The hotel features three themed swimming pools, a world-class spa, and the Campo Portofino supervised children's center.
- Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando - the hotel features a 12,000-square-foot pool with a sandy beach, an underwater sound system, fountains and water slide. There is also a fitness center and a supervised children's center called Camp Lil Rock. Live like a rock star, even if its just overnight!
Don Cesar Resort at St Petersburg Beach - a Loews Hotel
The Loews hotel in St Petersburg is the beautiful pink landmark hotel, the Don Cesar. The hotel is located directly on St. Pete Beach and features a new spa, Camp Cesar children's center, and the Shoppes at the Don. Stay at the same hotel as almost every president since Gerald Ford.
The fifth, and final, Loews hotel in Florida is the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. This property is truly a stand-out property. Located in an art deco building, the hotel is located in the heart of South Beach. Features include an oceanfront pool and jacuzzi with pool cabanas, six restaurants including an Emeril's, and direct access to the beach.

Do hotels which allow pets have separate rooms which are kept pet-free all the time? As the parent of a kid with allergies, I know that no amount of cleaning can take all the allergens out easily. It took three weeks of disinfecting and cleaning to get the house we moved into allergy free, but maybe they have better cleaning methods these days.

Some hotels only allow pets in specific rooms - usually smoking rooms which aren't great for pet owners who have asthma, etc. The fee that pet owners have to pay for their pet usually goes towards special cleaning of the room where it gets disinfected, etc. so hopefully others won't have any allergic reactions upon staying in the same room after the pet.
