Lodi found the gold at the 2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, including six Best of Class, 8 Double Gold, 21 Gold, 64 Silver and 48 Bronze awards. Congratulations to those award-winning winemakers in this diverse wine region. The 2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the largest competition of American wines and this year included a record breaking 5,500 entries judged by 65 prominent wine judges. The competition is always fierce and as the number of entries grow, it becomes tougher.

- Jessies Grove Winery– captured Silver for the 2006 Spenker Ranch Carignane and 2006 Bechthold Cinsault and Bronze for the 2009 Spenker Ranch Tokay
- Klinker Brick– in addition to the Best of Class for the 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel, picked up a Silver for the 2009 Farrrah Syrah
- Lange Twins Family Winery– awarded three Silver medals for the 2010 Petite Sirah/Petit Verdot, 2010 Zinfandel, 2008 Midnight Reserve Bordeaux Blend, and two Bronze medals for the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc and 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon
- Michael David– took home two Best of Class, two Double Golds, plus Silver medals for the 2009 7 Deadly Zins, 2009 Petite Petit and 2009 Earthquake Cabernet Sauvignon
- M2 Wines– won Silver for the 2009 Soucie Vineyard Old Vine Zinfandel and Bronze for the 2009 Artist Series Zinfandel
- Macchia Wines– came home with several awards including Gold for the 2010 Luxurious Zinfandel, Silvers for the 2010 Generous Zin, 2010 Mischievous Zin and 2010 Amorous Sangiovese, plus Bronze for the 2010 Voluptuous Zin, 2010 Serious Zin and 2010 Delicious Barbera
- McCay Cellars– accompanying the Double Gold for the 2008 Paisley Red Blend was a Silver for the 2008 Equity Zinfandel and Bronze for the 2008 Petite Sirah
- Mettler Family Vineyards - brought home a Gold medal for the 2009 Epicenter Old Vine Zinfandel and two Bronze for the 2009 Estate Petite Sirah and 2009 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
- One Way Winery – took Silver for the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon
- Peltier Station– in addition to their Best of Class 2006 Teroldego, they came home with two Silvers for the 2009 Viognier and 2009 Petite Sirah
- Ripken Vineyards and Winery– won two Silver medals for 2008 Ripkin Estate Tempranillo and 2008 Tannat, plus Bronze medals for the 2009 Pinot Noir, 2008 Montepulciano and 2008 Petite Sirah
- Sorelle Winery– topped off with a Gold for the 2009 Manna Ranch Primitivo Reserve, Silver for the 2010 Pinot Grigio and Bronze medals for the 2010 Scott Vineyard Sangiovese and 2009 Manna Ranch Sangiovese Reserve
- St. Jorge Winery– took home 3 Silvers for the 2009 Hohr-Fry Home Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel, 2009 Silvaspoons Tempranillo and the 2009 Silvaspoons Touriga, plus Bronze for the 2009 Mohr-Fry River Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel
- The Dancing Fox Winery– got Bronze for the 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel
- Twisted Roots– picked up Gold for the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon and Silver for the 2009 Estate Petite Sirah
- Van Ruiten Vineyards– captured 3 Golds for the 2010 Pinot Grigio, 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel and 2010 Cab/Shiraz, plus Silver for the 2009 Petite Sirah and Bronze for the 2010 Chardonnay and 2008 Sideways Zin
- Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi– added a couple Silver medals for the 2010 Chardonnay and 2009 Cabernet Merlot, plus Bronze for the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon
- Zynthesis– took home Gold for the 2010 Zinfandel
In addition there were many more awards issued for wines produced outside of Lodi with Lodi fruit. The number and breadth of the awards depicts the strength and diversity of this unique wine region, winning awards not only for the great Zinfandel and classic grape varieties but also taking home the prize for such varietals as Tannat, Mourvedre, Tempranillo, Touriga, Teroldego, Moscato, Cinsault and more.
