A 52-year-old motorist was struck by a tractor-trailer and killed Monday morning after he got out of his vehicle on the shoulder of the road and walked into traffic on I-75 in Henry County.
The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. on I-75 southbound, police spokesman Lt. Phillip A. Bratton Sr. said.
The “motorist walked from in front of his vehicle that was stopped on the shoulder of the road into flow of traffic,” Lt. Bratton said in an emailed statement.
The tractor-trailer stopped after the incident, but police have not released the driver’s name. It’s unclear why the man walked into traffic.
“It is unknown whether the motorist had broke down on the interstate or had just stopped,” Lt. Bratton said.
All southbound lanes of the interstate were blocked for about an hour while police investigated the accident.
