The new film Lockout, starring Guy Pearce has begun to make it's way around the web, drawing quite a few critics. Pearce is known to be an underrated actor from great films like Momento, LA Confidential, The Hurt Locker as well as the new Ridley Scott Prometheus film.
Watching the trailer, attached to the left, one can't help but realize the obvious similarities to John Carpenter's Escape From New York (1981). At a time in the future the president's daughter goes missing inside a maximum security prison and the only man who can rescue her is a loose cannon falsely imprisoned by the government. But wait, this time it takes place...in space, hmm totally different. Across the web thoughts are being given:
So agree that Guy Pearce is underrated… He was amazing in Mildred Pearce, an unsympathetic role that he made completely human and (almost) sympathetic. Let’s give him more substantial stuff to work with! Comment by ghg on Deadline.com.
The film which is co-written by producer Luc Besson (The Fifth Element and Leon: The Professional just to name a few) and has a release date of April 20th.
