Broncos vs. Ravens has bettors ready for some football. The Baltimore Ravens are at the Denver Broncos. Denver is laying (-7.5) with a total of 48.5.
Baltimore picked up the pace of their game as last year went on and is expected to build on that this year. The two teams were among the top three in terms of least time between plays as measured by seconds of game clock per offensive play.
There are many reports of Peyton Manning’s arm strength being much better than last year. Broncos’ defense will be missing 29.5 sacks from last season and 17 career Pro Bowl appearances. Von Miller is suspended, Champ Bailey is injured, and Elvis Dumervil is now on the Ravens sideline.
Though many lockerroom picks experts downplay preseason results, note that the Broncos’ starting defense struggled at times in the preseason when its base formation matched up with a heavier look on offense.
Baltimore is minus WR Anquan Boldin, LB Ray Lewis, and CB Ed Reed among others from last year’s Super Bowl Champions. Following the same schedule as last year, the Ravens arrived in Denver roughly 24 hours before kickoff to minimize the negative effects of altitude on the players.
The Ravens are expected to increase the carries of Bernard Pierce taking pressure off of workhorse Ray Rice. After finishing 16th in the league in rushing yards per game (114.5), the Broncos used a second-round draft pick on Wisconsin running back Montee Ball. Scouting reports most trusted by scores and odds pick site OffshoreInsiders.com say that he will be one of the league’s top rookies, though probably improve as the season goes on.
Spread trends (all records against the spread): Denver is 7-1 as favorites last two years. Ravens are 8-2 in the series.
Over/under angles: Denver has gone over 7-0 against AFC North division opponents. Denver has gone over 20-7 at home.
