Philadelphia – Pennsylvanians for Medical Marijuana (PA4MMJ) is reporting that the House Health and Human Services committee will meet on December 2nd in Room 140 at the Main Capitol Building in Harrisburg.
A sizeable turnout of supporters is expected at the hearings. Room 140 is the largest committee room available and a television feed will be set up in the Rotunda.
These will be first public hearings ever in the Commonwealth on a bill to legalize medical marijuana. Rep. Mark Cohen (D- Philadelphia) introduced HB 1393, in April.
PA4MMJ has been holding information seminars and awareness vigils supporting the bill. The group is now coordinating testimony for the hearings. Local patients and medical experts as well as respected voices on the issue from around the nation are preparing oral and written testimony for the committee.
The hearings are sure to be a lively event. One member of the House HHS Committee, Rep. Katie True (R- Lancaster) has been the only public opposition to the effort.
The hearings will begin at 11AM on December 2nd. PA4MMJ is still seeking testimony at www.pa4mmj.org
