Local writing groups meeting in February

This is a list of local writing groups that will meet during the month of February. Each group has a different focus and style. To find the group that is best for you, I advise you to contact the group leader (when given) or the hosting site for further information. If you find any errors in this list, or know of any groups that are not listed, please contact me at steve@oneoveralpha.com. Wednesday February 6 – 7:00 PM
The Philadelphia Area Writers Group

The Philadelphia Area Writers Group – associated with Pennwriters but open to all – meets on the first Wednesday of each month. For more information you can contact the group’s coordinator, Gretchen, at gml.pennwriter@gmail.com.

Friday February 8 – 7:00 PM
First Writes Writing Group
Concord Pike Barnes & Noble
The First Writes is a multi-genre creative writing group sponsored by Fantasist Enterprises. It is open to new members writers of all levels and forms are welcome. For more information, please contact William Horner at bnwadmin@firstwrites.org

Saturday February 9 – 9:00-11:30 AM
Women’s Writing Circle
Wellington Square Bookshop
The Women’s Writing Circle is to inspire women writers of suburban Philadelphia. They usually meet on the second Saturday of the month for a read-around and the last Saturday of the month for a critique group. There is a $5 charge to participate in the read-around, but free for those who just wish to listen.

Doylestown Bookshop

Tuesday February 19 – 7:00-9:00 PM
Phoenix Writers
Harrop Room of the Phoenixville Library
Raymond Rose leads this group where writers can “ask questions about the writing process, read their work out loud, and receive and offer input on the material read.” If you’d like to submit your work, or if you have any questions, contact Raymond at theraymondmrose@gmail.com.

Tuesday February 19 – 7:00 PM
Brandywine Valley Writers Group
Ryan’s Pub
“The Brandywine Valley Writers Group was founded to help professional and amateur writers improve their craft and achieve their goals. We strive to inspire writers through our various programs and to offer friendship within our extensive membership.”

Wednesday February 20 – 7:00 PM
Main Line Writers Group
Michael’s Restaurant
The date of this meeting has been changed to avoid meeting on Thanksgiving.
This Meetup group alternates between critique sessions and meetings discussing writing related topics. Check the site – or contact the group leaders – for more information.
The February meeting program will be a critique session.
