Local writer Shea Berkley teaching online writing workshop

Local writer Sherri Buerkle, who writes as Shea Berkley is teaching an online writing workshop for Writers Online Classes in April.

Buerkle, a former editor of Bridges magazine, will be sharing her personal method of layering the elements of a scene to enhance pace, reader emotion and plot strength.  Using examples, Buerkle will show students how to layer in dialogue, action, thought, description and exposition.

Buerkle will be teaching the April workshop entirely by email, using a Yahoo email group to distribute messages, so that students can work at their own pace and time of day.

Her live face-to-face presentations include workshops for national RWA conferences, Barnes and Noble writing workshops, and the Albuquerque RWA chapter, Land of Enchantment.

Local author Louise Bergin, whose The Winter Duke was published by Signet, says "I have never seen another [workshop instructor] who uses such useful examples to explain what creates vivid writing."

Buerkle is herself a finalist for the Romance Writers of America (RWA) prestigious Golden Heart Award in 2006 and again in 2009.

The workshop begins April 1st, and late registrations will e accepted through April 5th for the month-long workshop..
