Although Lake Erie and Eastern PA are a little more known for grape growing and wine, some local wineries have done well at the 2013 PA Farm Show’s Commercial Wine Competition. The Farm Show was January 5th-12th in Harrisburg and is the largest indoor agricultural expo in the country. The Commercial wine competition is open to all PA Limited Wineries and must be labeled as Pennsylvania wines under TTB regulations, meaning that at least 75% of the wine submitted must be made from Pennsylvania fruit. The wines that are entered must also be currently available for sale, or available within 60 days of the competition and be a batch size of 100 gallons or more.
Here is how the wineries on our side of the state fared in the competition.
