According to the Federal Communications Commission (the FCC), the reason WPAN-TV (licensed to Fort Walton Beach, Florida) stopped broadcasting by December 30th, 2013 (a Monday), was due to its owners (Franklin & Hoynacki Communications, a limited liability company) being in the process of selling it to a potential buyer and their decision to keep it off until their asset purchase agreement with the potential buyer is finalized and filed.

(note: WPAN-TV's programming used to be available through the American Television & Telegraph company's U-verse TV system in Mobile and through DirecTV's satellite TV system for their satellite TV customers in Mobile and other parts of the Mobile, Alabama-Pensacola, Florida TV market)
