Local Theatre Group Demonstrates its Commitment to the Community

The American Negro Playwright Theatre (ANPT) recently launched its Community Matters Most Outreach Initiative, geared toward building new audiences for the arts and providing live theatre experiences to under served youth of Nashville-Davidson County, Tennessee. ANPT has been working to achieve the mission of the Community Matters Most Outreach Initiative in a number of ways.

ANPT is the resident theatre organization at The Next Level Arts & Entertainment Mindset (or simply, The Next Level), located in the heart of Nashville, TN. Recently, ANPT opened the doors of The Next Level to a group of students from Baxter Alternative Learning Center. The students were allowed to tour the facility and learn about the many performances and events that ANPT hosts at the space. This tour was a significant experience for the students as it allowed them the opportunity to be exposed to the behind-the-scenes processes of the arts.

ANPT saw an opportunity to further commit to their new initiative with the "big game" between the Giants and the Patriots around the corner. ANPT will be hosting their very own Big Game Event on Sunday, February 5, 2012 as a fundraiser event. The organization boasts event sponsorship from Buffalo Wild Wings, FritoLay, Pepsi, Really Tastee, Subway and YinYang Cupcake Bar. At $15 per person, the proceeds from the event will benefit the Community Matters Most Initiative, which will help further ANPT's efforts in providing quality theatre arts performances and events to the community.

Additionally, in keeping with their initiative, ANPT is preparing to showcase one of its shows, Miracle in Rwanda, at Maplewood High School on February 8, 2012 at 6pm. This event is free and open to the public.

The aforementioned demonstrate ANPT's commitment to its community, and we can only anticipate where this initiative will take them. Stay up to date with ANPT's progress by visiting www.anpt.org.
