"Pure Evil Thrash Metal from Southern Ohio" reads the green, white, and, red DISMEMBERMENT beer label t-shirt, a shirt that has been seen at every concert in Columbus, or just about anywhere in Ohio, since the band started selling them. These guys have great taste in artwork, expanding on decades of influence from underground metal bands, with a refreshing signature touch. Their shirts, like their music, are a testament to the roots of metal music and yet at the same time the seemingly natural evolution of the genre. Ohio has of late been breeding an ever-growing scene full of original metal bands and DISMEMBERMENT is a huge asset to that scene. It seems lately Columbus cannot get enough of this band, or their merchandise. The four piece reflect music influence well beyond their years and they do well to tie it up with modern technicality in their own unique and brutal way.
DISMEMBERMENT recently provided support for the legendary Gorguts at the Alrosa Villa (see An evening with Gorguts). Their last two releases; 'The Condemned' and 'Denied Salvation' have been receiving a recent onslaught of acclaim from news and blog sites around the world. With their first full length album due for release in early 2014 ,'Embrace the Dark', they have announced a mini tour, during which they will provide direct support for Skeletonwitch on two dates. DISMEMBERMENT remains an unsigned act choosing to build their foundation from the ground up in true grass roots/DIY fashion. Luke Shively (guitar, vox), Jacob Shively (guitar, vox), J.D. Henderly (bass), and Taylor Emerine (drums) are extremely motivated and professional musicians. Be sure to catch them on one of the following upcoming dates, this may be the last year you get to see the boys from the hills of southern Ohio in their own element. As the Columbus Music Examiner I believe 2014 will be the year DISMEMBERMENT blows up!
