Local shows to look out for: 20 up and coming artists to see live

In the DC area there never seems to be a shortage of choices when it comes to live music. But for every well known artist that comes to town there are just as many lesser known bands and singers that come around as well. These shows and artists can get easily overlooked in the extensive and sometimes overwhelming selection out there. So let the short list/mini music guide below act as a small guide for some of the shows coming around that may not be as heavily publicized but are definitely can’t miss shows.

The mini music guide features 20 notable shows from some great up and coming artists who are coming to venues in DC, Virginia and Maryland. It's organized in order of show date and there is a mix of several genres including Alternative, Indie, Blues, Electronica, Rap and Country. FYI only shows that haven't sold out as of this article's publication have been included on the list. If anyone has show suggestions that may have been overlooked then please feel free to share by leaving them in the comments section. Also included is a link to each artist’s website to find out more information on the band or singer and at least one of their best songs for just a taste of their musical style.

But make sure to catch these great artists at such small venues while that's still possible. Every artist on this list appears to be on the brink of fame thanks to buzz, a growing fan base and increasing radio airplay. Soon they very well could be taken off the list of up and coming artists because they all seem poised for superstardom. So enjoy the Spring and Summer concert season there is surely something our there to entertain everyone regardless of musical taste or budget.
