There are a lot of us out there who are feeling less fortunate this holiday season. With our kids asking Santa for high priced technology and gadgets it is hard to keep from feeling like we are falling short. Keep gift giving in check this year by taking lead from Cherry Creek and Denver area locals who have gotten in the giving spirit this year. Read below to see what they are up to and how you would like to help.

Michael Moore, founder of Simply Moore in Cherry Creek, is teaming up with Dolls For Daughters, a local organization who collects new baby dolls for Denver charities. If you bring a new doll worth $10 or more to Simply Moore during the month of December you will receive a premium Sanitas Skincare product.

Head down to JW Marriott Cherry Creek on December 13th to meet the Birdman, Nuggets center Chris Anderson, who plans to dress as Santa to raise money for Alliance for Choice in Education (ACE). Come back on December 18th to meet celebrity Santa, Darrell Reid of the Denver Broncos who supports the Footz Foundation. Tickets must be purchased in advance andr are $10 each, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the celebrity Santa’s charity. For more information on the Celebrity Santa events, visit:

HomeAid Colorado collects old cell phones to raise money to support families who have faced life changing events and found themselves temporarily homeless. Visit their site to find out where to drop them off, or better yet, how to organize a phone drive.

Make your way downtown to the 14th Annual Blake Street Glass Ornament Extravaganza on December 12,13,19 and 20 where you can watch as ornaments are made by glass blowers at Blake Street Glass studio. A portion of the proceeds benefit The Children’s Hospital. Check out the Children’s Hospital website for more creative gift giving ideas.

A good way to gain perspective is to consider those locally and around the world who are in great need this season. Instead of store bought presents for your loved ones, consider purchasing toys and gifts whose profits go towards charitable organizations. Better yet, take your children to pick out gifts to donate to other children in need. These gifts you give your children will make a lasting impression, and bring out the true meaning of Christmas!
