Local Real Estate team and teens send coats to New York Hurricane Sandy victims (Photos)

In December 2012, Brian Salem and The Salem Team realized the devastation of Hurricane Sandy was still causing many New York residents to suffer. Many people are either still living in tents or are in their homes but due to damage, are still without heat. Partnered with "Teens Making A Difference," a collection of new and gently-used coats began.

"The Salem Team realizes that the devastation Northeast Ohio suffered from Hurricane Sandy was nothing in comparison to what our East Coast neighbors are dealing with now. We are used to extreme weather conditions in the winter, however, many people in New York and New Jersey are still surviving without heat. Many, are still without a home. We felt we needed to do our part to help our neighbors," stated Brian Salem, Team Leader/CEO, Salem Team.

Over the course of 3 weeks, over 300 coats were collected. Ranging from babies to adults, coats were delivered to The Salem Team's office on a daily basis.

According to Salem, "Our Keller Williams family, clients, business associates and our family and friends all helped us achieve our goal of providing warmth to someone in need."

On January 7th, Team WorldWide, a local logistics company, picked up the coats and will be driving them to New York City - at NO charge!

"Clevelanders, Ohio residents and people from all across America have helped us provide needed resources for many people over the years. It seems all we need to do is ask, and people are more than willing to help. It has taught me that it only takes one person to start something to help others achieve success," stated Caitlyn Toth, Teens Making A Difference founder.

Fox 8 has supported the project by helping spread the word of the coat collection. The video showing the final coat pick-up is attached to this report.
