Many area news outlets have come into the story about Paul Gray's untimely passing. KCCI has a story on the 10 o'clock news, WHO will as well. A quick bop onto Lazer 103.3's website instead of going to the normal index goes to a black background page, with a picture of Paul, and two tattoo bands on the side. Also, Lazer will be playing an hour-long tribute to the man with his music at 11pm central time.
Local alt-core band Enemy Within had this to say: "We are saddened by the passing of a great member of a great Iowa roots band that have inspired many. Paul's passing was obviously sudden and a suprise to many. Though we didn't know him on a personal level you still can't help but feel the loss. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and his band mates."
"This is a big blow, not only to the community of Des Moines but fans of metal at large, worldwide," said local radio station director Andy Hall, who says he knew Gray for a decade. "It's a devastating loss. Paul was a wonderful human being."
Stevie Bloody Murder from The Boston Hell Mask: "May his soul be on every stage that we play for the rest of our time here."
Spencer Fenimore of Mindrite: "A Des Moines rock legend is dead, and we thank him for his inspiration in life and death."
On Destrophy's facebook account today (5/25): "R.I.P. Paul Gray. You helped change the course of modern music, and brought joy to millions - our condolences to his family and friends - he will be greatly missed."
Hatebreed wrote on their myspace blog: "It came as a surprise today to hear that Paul Gray passed this morning. He was a great guy and an amazing bass player. I consider it an honor to have gotten to know him. His contribution to the music world was enormous and will live on forever. R.I.P." -Bassist Chris Beattie
Jamey Jasta added "Paul was a stand up guy and a great musician. He and Slipknot changed the face of rock music as we know it. Just about every metal band member from 1999 onward owes him a salute. My condolences to his band, family & fans. We'll miss you dearly Paul. We are eternally grateful to you."

Here in UK I aint heard anything on the news about Paul RIP dude, just saw the post through fb, what the f00k is it with Hollywood Z Listers get more attention over a Legend. Not a massive fan of Slipknot but f00k poor guy was gonna be a dad. My heart goes out to his family.
America cares more about pop stars and whorish actresses than it does about the death of a legend or war or oil spills. The top story on all the news stations would be Miley Cyrus getting pregnant . . . meanwhile a nuke just went off in the Middle East. I hate my country. Rest in Peace Paul.
It is actually on the BBC UK website, as well as the The Sun and The Scottish Sun. A lot of them actually quoted Andy Hall and that's where I pulled that from.
You can delete the comments all you want, but you can't change the fact that you're clearly just whoring for hits based on this brilliant dude's death. It's really, really, really sleazy.
I agree if Paul was in a boy band or tiger beat there would be alot more said on the news and so on but since he was one of the great bassist of metal they will mention it once on the 5 am news and you will never hear another word about it..My deepest thoughts and regrets goes to his wife and the band you can just bet he is jammin with dimebag and clint may they all RIP..
