Local pet sitting business hosts national fundraiser for Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association

Local pet sitter Kim Walton is organizing the local effort in a national fundraiser, Wishbones for Pets. Donations will benefit the Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter. It is about to end, but there is still time for people to donate. Donation barrels are set out in various locations in the Kanawha Valley.
Kim hopes to turn this fundraiser into an annual event. This is a national effort with regional directors appointed to collect donations and encourage participation. The donation period is October 15 through November 30. Items such as blankets, toys, leashes, collars, pet food, and monetary donations will be collected, with 100% of the items going to the Kanawha-Charleston Animal Shelter at the conclusion of the program.
Says Kim Walton of Critter Sitters: "I’m excited to be involved with the Wishbones for Pets program. It’s another way for me to make a difference in the lives of homeless pets and help the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association at the same time. I was recently appointed to be the WV Regional Director of Wishbones for Pets. If there are any other pet sitters in the Kanawha Valley who would be interested in helping with this fundraiser, I ask them to please contact me immediately.”

Business owners interested in participating can contact Critter Sitters LLC at (304) 531-9572 or via email at wvcrittersitters@yahoo.com. The web address is www.wvcrittersitters.com. The donation sites are in place for 2010 but participation in 2011 is encouraged.

All monetary donations are to be made out to the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, and mailed to: Kim Walton, PO Box 95, Ravenswood, WV 26101. At the end of the fundraiser, these will be delivered to the animal shelter along with all the donated pet goods.

During this time, Wishbones representatives throughout the United States and Canada will work with local businesses to collect pet supplies and other necessities for pet charities in their own community.
