The Westerly Parent Academy announced a number of new workshops and classes for January. The classes include a class specifically directed at families of children with special needs.
January classes include a class "Special Education Insurance - Protecting Care Giver and Family in all Moments of Life". The class will be taught by a special educator, an insurance agent and a lawyer specializing in special education insurance. The class will be held on Monday, January 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Tower Street Community Center in Westerly. Anyone interested in the class can register online at the Westerly Parent Academy website.
Other classes in January for families include a bully defense workshop for parent and child, a book club series involving books exploring the world of teenagers, and a class on stress management for parents. You can register for any of these courses at the parent academy's website.
The Westerly Parent Academy is the only parent academy in Rhode Island consisting of courses to encourage parent involvement that are free. Westerly residents receive first preference, but courses are open to all of Rhode Island.
